How can you monitor your progress in Roadmaps? There are many ways to monitor your progress. It all depends on your goals, along with the goals your teacher sets for you. Let’s break it down.
First, it is important to decide which Roadmap you will be working on. Your Roadmap contains the set of skills that can be demonstrated to meet each grade-level's goal. After you take your diagnostic assessment, your teacher-assigned grade level will be, by default, the Roadmap you will start working through. However, you and your teacher should decide which Roadmap you want to prioritize.
Let's explore your Roadmap! You can see what you need to learn in two ways: either by Unit or by All Skills.
Unit View
The units in Teach to One Roadmaps are organized by related math skills and contain the following:
When you select a Unit, you will see the following breakdown:
- Unit Progress bar: How much you’ve done so far for this unit, either by placing out of skills on the diagnostic or passing a Skill Challenge. It also shows how many skills you have left to complete this unit. Remember: To pass a new skill, you need to get four out of five questions correct in the Skill Challenge.
- Summary View: This view displays a progress wheel that indicates the percentage of skills in each status out of the total skills in your selected Roadmap.
All Skills
In this view, you see all of the skills you need to pass for your selected Roadmap. By default, the skills you have already passed will be hidden, to view them, just uncheck the box.
You will still see the Summary View, which will contain the same information as the Summary View in the Unit view. This displays a progress wheel that indicates the percentage of skills in each status out of the total skills your selected Roadmap. In this example, the progress wheel indicates that there are a total of 89 skills for the 5th grade Roadmap, 23 skills have been demonstrated, and several skills are in the other categories or "Keep Learning" and "Almost There".
Map View
This view displays a visual map including icons that represent all the skills and skill statuses in a student’s selected Roadmap. Under the Summary View to the left, click on the map icon to access the Map View.
Each grade level has a different progress theme. The map is interactive - hover over any icon and you can see the skill name that the icon represents. You can also access the lessons for each skill by simply clicking it. Every time you either pass an assessment or take a Diagnostic, your map will update based on the results.
Select Map Info to view the meaning of each status.
Putting this knowledge into action
Now that you know where to monitor your progress, here are a few recommendations from our team that will help keep you on track to reach your goals!
- We recommend that you work on at least two skills per week. What two skills will you focus on for the week? Work with your teacher to set this goal. Your progress will only change if you pass the Skill Challenge, meaning you have to get 4 out of 5 correct.
- When you log in to Roadmaps, check your Summary View donut chart. What percentage have you completed? Is the number increasing each week? If it’s not, you might need to talk with your teacher to figure out where you might need additional support.
- If you don’t know where to start, you can always select a skill from the Suggested Skills list. These skills are important to your overall progress in helping you build knowledge for more difficult skills.
- When in doubt, always ask your teacher for help!
